Things are Warming Up

The Live Earth "event" happened this week, in case you weren't paying attention. Aside from the immense pain I felt watching Al Gore trying to keep time with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, the music and camera-work provided by HDNet was outstanding. The coolest parts of the whole production were the short films interspersed between sets. I'm wondering if any messages actually penetrated the skulls of environmental non-believers, or moved to action any already on board with the reality of global-warming...but I'm sure some good cash was raised. It seems everywhere you look "green" is in....and I fear the movement will go the way of the Iraq war, it that we hear so much of it it almost has become part of the backdrop and easy to tune out. Similarly, do we have the stomach as a nation, as a world for that matter, to truly sacrifice something for these causes (war, the environment), or are we comfortable assuming someone else will take care of it (our soldiers, the Sierra Club).

Gomez is playing on my iTunes today...dig it.
